Time to start thinking of what to wear to the races: the Sofitel Girls Day Out is just around the corner!
This meeting, happening on 16th September, is one of the major race days of the season, and one you shouldn’t miss. It officially opens Spring Racing Carnival 2017 at Flemington, and features four Group races, including the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes. Prize money for this race alone is $500,000. It’s also produced several stars of the season, so if you’re at all interested in the racing itself, it’s time to pay attention.
The Sofitel Girls Day Out is also one of the six days of the Melbourne Cup Carnival, the other days being Turnbull Stakes Day, Derby Day, the Melbourne Cup, Oaks Day, and Stakes Day. You can check out a list of the other major Spring Racing Carnival dates for 2017 here.
Quick note: in case you didn’t know, online registrations for Fashions on the Field are now open. Before registering, you’ll want to read up on Emma Scodellaro’s FOTF checklist right here. She would know, she’s a seasoned professional. Women’s racewear competitions are held on AAMI Victoria Derby Day, Emirates Melbourne Cup Day, and Crown Oaks Day. Registrations close on the 30th of October. You may register here.
